SAG HISTORY

 

The Stratford Astronomy Group (SAG) was formed by amateur astronomers in 1999, with the first meeting occurring on October 20.

An indoor meeting open to the public takes place on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May. (For details see the Events Calendar).

  • Star Party at Northwestern Secondary School, Stratford, January 11, 2018. Approximately 45 Brazilian exchange students attended to view the sky through telescopes
  • Library Presentation – Mitchell Library, March 15, 2018 (School March Break)- Binoculars and telescopes were demonstrated
  • Museum of the Moon event hosted by Stratford Summer Music in August 2019. Held on Tom Patterson Island. Two nights provided good viewing through club telescopes for hundreds of attendees.
  • Stratford Public Library – Children’s presentation with a ‘Moon’ theme
  • Perth East Library Presentation – Naked Eye Astronomy talk delivered by Doug Fyfe to an audience of 30-plus attendees.
